Jedi Knight will not tell a level cog where the player is looking vertically. This one works it out anyway, from one helper thing that exists for the length of a single subroutine.
Head pitch in degrees, accurate to 0.026° across the whole clamp range — and the residual is the engine's own sine table, not the cog.
